Senior Staff Product Marketing Engineer, Core and SDKs

Overview

In this role you shape Temporal's developer experience by deeply understanding core primitives, SDKs, and tools, and translating technical insights into clear positioning and guidance. You collaborate with Core, SDK, and developer teams, customers, and field teams to create demos, tutorials, and launch content that accelerates adoption. You own the technical storytelling for Core, SDK, API, and Nexus initiatives and help developers move from code samples to production. You will also explore AI patterns or new integrations as needed to answer developers' questions.

Responsibilities
  • Develop a deep understanding of Temporal core primitives, SDKs, APIs, Nexus, and developer tools across languages.
  • Map the full developer journey and identify adoption blockers and confusion points.
  • Create demos, sample apps, tutorials, launches, and technical briefs using working code to support product claims.
  • Own positioning and messaging for Core, SDK, API, Nexus, and developer experience initiatives with the Core Products Director.
  • Collaborate with Core, SDK, and tooling engineers to align on roadmap and launches before public announcements.
  • Own the technical narrative for priority developer-tool integrations and provide guidance for adoption with examples.
  • Test and optimize documentation, onboarding, local development, testing, debugging, replay, and upgrade workflows; provide concrete recommendations to Product Marketing, Engineering, Developer Relations, and Documentation.
  • Support priority deals and partner conversations with hands-on work to answer questions or remove blockers; convert recurring questions into reusable guidance.
  • Lead customer interviews for Core and SDK case studies; capture objectives, implementation, and outcomes.
  • Tackle additional developer questions on AI patterns, integrations, or emerging use cases as priorities change.
Key requirements
  • Extensive experience in software engineering, solutions architecture, customer engineering, developer relations, technical product marketing, or similar hands-on technical roles.
  • Proven track record building or supporting developer-facing platforms, SDKs, APIs, frameworks, or infrastructure products.
  • Strong proficiency in Python, TypeScript, Go, Java, or equivalent backend languages and ability to learn unfamiliar SDKs quickly.
  • Practical knowledge of APIs, SDKs, distributed systems, failure handling, state management, testing, deployment, and observability.
  • Ability to compare approaches, recommend patterns, build reference implementations, and explain tradeoffs.
  • Excellent technical writing and the ability to translate code into trusted guidance for engineers.
  • Credibility to lead technical discussions with developers, sales, solutions architecture, customers, and leadership.
