Overview In this role you will contribute to REMA's research and analytics, applying quantitative methods to securities markets and market microstructure to assess risks and regulatory impacts. You will synthesize analysis for internal and external stakeholders, develop innovative ideas aligned with FINRA's mission, and support policy discussions with rigorous economic outputs. You'll work with cross functional teams to design studies, manage large data projects, and present findings to managers, regulators, and industry peers. Responsibilities- Support R&A work across REMA subject areas and review academic/industry literature
- Apply econometric and quantitative methods to analyze securities markets, market participants, market microstructure, and regulatory impacts
- Identify, assess, and synthesize research/data related to securities markets and market microstructure to support FINRA's mission
- Produce written reports, presentations, and outputs on economics/finance topics for internal and external audiences
- Develop innovative R&A ideas based on emerging risks and topics relevant to FINRA
- Design and implement analyses for large-scale data projects and derive actionable insights
- Contribute to economic analysis during rule-making and policy discussions
- Collaborate with managers and colleagues to meet economic analysis needs and shape project delivery
- Maintain REMA databases and recordkeeping systems to support operations and analytics
- Present R&A findings to internal stakeholders and external experts
- Engage in internal/external conferences, seminars, and speaking engagements
- Demonstrate FINRA's values through collaboration and integrity
- Complete other projects as needed
Key requirements- Master's in Economics, Finance, Statistics, or a related field
- 3+ years of relevant experience; PhD preferred
- Demonstrated experience producing economic analyses, including project design, econometric modeling, statistical analysis, data collection/manipulation, programming, and report preparation
- Proficiency with R, Python, and/or Stata
- Strong written and verbal communication; ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
- Ability to collaborate across diverse teams and operate with increasing independence
- Experience with economic analysis in regulatory or market-facing contexts (preferred)
