Overview

In this pricing-focused actuary role, you will shape the pricing strategy for Argo's Specialty lines through predictive models and portfolio optimization. You'll collaborate with underwriting, claims, IT, and marketing to quantify performance and drive improvements. You'll lead loss ratio planning and evaluate new business opportunities, using advanced analytics to inform decisions. This position offers hands-on modeling work, cross-functional impact, and a path to influence pricing direction within a supportive team. A meaningful hook is your ability to translate complex data into actionable pricing decisions at scale.

Responsibilities
  • Build and maintain predictive models (GLMs, machine learning) to support pricing strategy and portfolio optimization
  • Collaborate with underwriting, claims, financial, IT, and marketing teams to support Specialty lines
  • Perform actuarial and financial analyses to quantify performance
  • Advise business partners on portfolio improvement opportunities
  • Lead quarterly loss ratio planning, including rate changes and trend analysis
  • Explore new tools to improve efficiencies and workflows
  • Create and automate datasets and reports for actuarial analysis
  • Manage rate filings where applicable
Key requirements
  • 3+ years of predictive modeling experience
  • Experience with predictive modeling techniques (GLMs, machine learning) and programming skills (SQL, R, Python)
  • Bachelor's Degree in Mathematics, Actuarial Science, Computer Science or Finance related
  • 4+ exams in ACAS or equivalent (preferred)
  • Broad insurance knowledge
  • Strong communication skills to convey technical concepts to management
  • Ability to work in a team and manage concurrent projects
  • Detail-oriented with strong data accuracy checks
  • Proficient PC skills (Windows, Excel, Outlook, Word)
  • Rate filing experience a plus
