Overview

As Director & Actuary in Pacific Life's Annuity Product Development team, you will lead a small actuarial group to design, price, and launch value-driven annuity products. You'll balance profit, risk, and competitiveness while translating data into strategic insights for senior management. You'll work cross-functionally to drive profitable growth and continuously improve pricing tools and processes. This is a hybrid role with relocation support and opportunities to shape long-term product strategy.

Responsibilities
  • Lead and develop a pricing team (2-4 actuaries) to design, price, and launch new annuity products
  • Balance product profit, risk, and market competitiveness; innovate pricing/design solutions
  • Design and price products following profit and risk guidelines
  • Oversee pricing models for Variable, Fixed-Indexed, Index-Linked variable, and Fixed annuities
  • Support pricing and analysis to drive profitable growth across actively sold retail annuities
  • Incorporate industry, regulatory, and market trends into development cycles
  • Synthesize data into cohesive insights to support product strategy and execution
  • Collaborate with stakeholders (product strategy, innovation, sales, finance, risk, investment) to enable strategic growth
  • Continuously improve pricing tools and processes; lead multi-faceted projects and present findings to senior management
  • Independently lead projects and present final pricing and risk assessments to cross-functional leadership
Key requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, or similar field
  • FSA designation
  • At least 10 years of actuarial experience with annuity pricing and/or risk management
  • Excellent written and verbal communication; strong leadership
  • Strong organizational, time management, and interpersonal skills
