Overview

Join SBP's Center for Neurologic Diseases as a tenured/tenure-track professor (Assistant, Associate, or Full) leading cutting-edge neuroscience research. You will build and manage a robust research program, secure external funding, and publish influential work in cellular, molecular, structural, and systems neuroscience. You'll collaborate across SBP and external partners to translate discoveries into human health impact. This is a mission-driven, onsite role in San Diego with strong support for research growth and startup funding.

Responsibilities
  • Lead and collaborate on research proposals and grant applications aligned with SBP strategy
  • Oversee research projects and ensure progress toward goals
  • Disseminate findings via publications, talks, and seminars
  • Stay current with literature and integrate new methods
  • Mentor and coach junior faculty and staff
  • Ensure compliance with SOPs and regulatory requirements
  • Secure and maintain extramural funding for the lab
  • Contribute to strategic direction and cross-functional collaboration
Key requirements
  • PhD or equivalent degree with five years in an Associate Professor position or equivalent experience
  • History of extensive research achievements and external funding, NIH funding a plus
  • First-author publications in peer-reviewed journals
  • Knowledge of qualitative or mixed-methods research and collaboration experience
  • Ability to work independently and in teams, with strong time management and communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Willingness to work onsite in San Diego
