Faculty Affairs and Staffing Manager

Overview

In this role you will manage faculty affairs for 70+ faculty, supervise the Faculty Affairs Administrator, and coordinate immigration and staffing processes within the Computer Science Department. You will analyze data, interpret policies, and support recruitment and outreach to internal and external stakeholders. The position contributes to Stanford Engineering's mission by ensuring compliant, efficient faculty operations and staffing at scale. A hybrid work arrangement and collaboration with cross-functional teams offer meaningful impact in shaping academic leadership and talent management.

Responsibilities
  • Oversee hiring, appointments, promotions, leaves, sabbaticals, and other personnel actions
  • Coordinate faculty visas and permanent residency processes
  • Maintain faculty records and prepare leadership reports
  • Advise faculty and leadership on university, federal, and academic personnel policies
  • Manage faculty searches, interviews, campus visits, and related logistics
  • Supervise the Faculty Affairs/HR Administrator and ensure compliance
  • Implement and evaluate day-to-day unit activities and allocate resources
  • Collect and analyze data, create reports, review trends, and propose solutions
  • Represent the program to internal/external stakeholders and provide training
  • Organize outreach activities, communications, and training; plan events or conferences
  • Participate in budgets, monitor expenditures, and perform limited forecasting
  • Direct and supervise staff as needed
Key requirements
  • Bachelor's degree and three years of relevant experience, or a combination of education and relevant experience
  • Knowledge of Stanford HR processes and benefits
  • Experience with FASA and immigration processes (J-1, H-1, O-1, TN, E3, green card)
  • Prioritization and multi-tasking
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Initiative and ownership of projects
