Overview In this graphics-focused Visual Journalist role, you will report, design, and publish breaking-news graphics and multimedia stories under tight deadlines. You'll create maps, charts, diagrams, and interactive visuals, collaborating with the Graphics team and other desks to deliver fast, high-impact journalism. Responsibilities- Conceive, report, design, and publish breaking-news graphics and multimedia stories
- Design and build interactive and static visualizations
- Collaborate with Graphics staff and journalists from other desks on major breaking news events
- Conceptualize new reporting lines and analyze data to uncover visual stories with accuracy and impact
- Share responsibility for weekend graphics coverage and timely visual response to breaking news
- Support journalistic independence and commitment to truth in storytelling
Key requirements- 5+ years of professional experience producing, reporting, or editing visual journalism or news graphics
- Proven ability to identify visual opportunities quickly and deliver effective graphics in fast-paced breaking-news environments
- Expertise in visual software (Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, Figma) and front-end web development tools (HTML, CSS, JavaScript)
- Experience with data reporting, interface design, and information graphics design
- Excellent news judgment
- Strong written and oral communication
