Overview In this role you craft motion graphics and visual assets for The Times' Shows, collaborating with reporters, editors, and producers to translate complex stories into engaging video sequences. You help shape visual storytelling across formats and platforms, while upholding journalistic accuracy and independence. You'll work with cross-functional teams to ensure a consistent visual language and innovative design. This in-office position emphasizes contributing to high-stakes newsroom storytelling and shows growth in motion design.

Responsibilities- Create original designs and video toolkits for a range of shows and formats
- Collaborate with show producers and editors to produce engaging videos
- Translate complex information into compelling video sequences and animation
- Maintain consistent visual language across Times design teams and establish best practices
- Provide pragmatic, innovative design solutions that justify time and resources
- Uphold journalistic independence and the Times mission in all work
Key requirements- 5+ years of motion design experience
- Expertise with After Effects (essential) and Adobe Creative Suite
- Proficiency in Figma, Photoshop, Illustrator
- Strong portfolio of design work
- Solid understanding of layout, typography, and storytelling techniques
- Experience creating visual presentations integrating audio, video, stills, and text
- Collaborative team player
- Ability to work under deadlines in a fast-paced newsroom
