Overview As Project Architect at SmithGroup, you lead architectural teams to deliver complex construction documents for healthcare, science & technology, and higher-education projects. You drive day-to-day construction administration, coordinate with clients, contractors, and consultants, and mentor junior staff. You shape project work plans, staffing, and client relationships to support resilient, award-winning design outcomes. Responsibilities- Lead a team of architects to prepare and coordinate construction documents for complex projects
- Oversee day-to-day construction administration and coordination with contractor, owner, and consultants
- Mentor and supervise junior staff; manage project staffing and work plans
- Develop trusted client relationships and participate in client meetings to define program requirements
- Lead recruitment and performance management of staff; ensure project progress and compliance
- Engage with multi-disciplinary teams, ensuring code compliance and construction methodologies
Key requirements- Bachelor's degree in Architecture or equivalent
- Minimum 10 years of professional experience; higher education and/or science & technology markets preferred
- Architectural Registration; LEED AP preferred
- Proficiency with Revit, AutoCAD, SketchUp, Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign
- Strong communication skills with clients; ability to build trust and relationships
- Experience leading architects and project teams; understanding of code implementation and construction practices
