Industrial Project Architect (Northcentral)

Overview

In this role you will advance HDR's mission to improve communities through industrial-scale design. You'll lead planning, design, and construction administration across diverse projects, guiding multidisciplinary teams toward high-performance, sustainable outcomes. You'll collaborate with clients and regulators to ensure code compliance and deliver construction-ready documents. This position offers the chance to shape facilities-from data centers to water treatment plants-while growing your technical leadership within an employee-owned culture.

Responsibilities
  • Lead planning, design, documentation, and construction administration for multiple building types
  • Head owner/client and internal meetings and coordinate with agencies for code compliance
  • Direct multidisciplinary teams to deliver construction documents and milestone deliverables
  • Coordinate design activities and produce detailed construction documents
  • Coordinate and supervise work across disciplines through all project phases
  • Review architectural documents for conflicts with other disciplines; perform QA/QC
  • Write and edit architectural specifications
  • Coordinate addenda, RFIs, CPRs, and change orders; incorporate changes
  • Provide construction observation and contract administration as needed
  • Conduct on-site work sessions with Client Representatives and other disciplines
  • Perform other duties as needed
Key requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Architecture
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in industrial architecture (e.g., data centers, water facilities)
  • Registered Architect
  • Experience with Autodesk Revit
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Project)
  • Excellent written and communication skills
  • Strong knowledge of codes and planning
  • 5+ years as licensed professional
  • LEED accreditation (preferred)
  • Bluebeam Revu experience (preferred)
  • Leadership and mentoring of junior staff
  • Facilitating meetings with diverse stakeholders
  • Analytical and problem-solving abilities
