Overview In this role you will manage complex auto and property litigation, shaping defense or settlement strategy and coordinating with defense counsel. You will deliver concierge-level member service through proactive communication and empathy, aligning with USAA's mission to empower members. You will lead litigation processes, budgets, and vendor management, driving timely resolutions and risk-aware decisions. This position blends independent work with team collaboration in a hybrid setup that supports military families.

Responsibilities- Manage complex liability and first-party litigation, including auto/property cases with significant exposure
- Develop and document litigation strategy, budget, and settlement decisions
- Liaise with members and external counsel to ensure clear, proactive communication
- Oversee legal fees and expenses, and manage law firm vendors
- Represent USAA in mediations, case conferences, and trials
- Mentor junior team members and support special projects or training
- Assist the Director of Litigation Operations and step into leadership as needed
- Ensure compliance with risk, policy, and regulatory requirements
Key requirements- Bachelor's degree or 4 years of relevant education/experience
- 6 years of experience handling complex liability and complex first-party claims or equivalent litigation
- 2 years of customer contact experience
- Claims adjuster license in assigned state or ability to obtain within 3 months
- Strong negotiation techniques and customer service skills
- Excellent communication and knowledge of P&C policies and state laws
- Experience handling large auto/property or commercial losses
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
