Overview In this role you will manage a diverse civil docket and guide matters from intake to resolution. You will provide strategic counsel within a results driven firm culture, handling pre-trial discovery, motions, depositions, settlements, arbitration, mediation, and trial. You will work closely with clients, experts, and staff to shape case strategy and advocate effectively in court. Responsibilities- Manage a full caseload of civil litigation from intake to resolution, including insurance claims and commercial disputes
- Oversee pre-trial discovery: drafting/responding to interrogatories, requests for production, and requests for admission
- Take and defend depositions of parties, witnesses, and experts
- Draft and file pleadings, motions, briefs, and other court documents; develop persuasive pre-trial motions
- Develop case strategy and coordinate with clients, experts, and witnesses for hearings, mediations, arbitrations, and trial
- Advocate as trial and hearing counsel, presenting evidence and arguing in court
- Lead or participate in arbitration and mediations; conduct first-chair mediations when appropriate
- Manage client relationships, provide updates, and advise on risk and settlement strategy
- Collaborate with paralegals and staff to organize files, manage calendars, and meet deadlines
- Conduct legal research and stay current with civil litigation developments
- Track time, prepare client billing, and assist with business development and client intake as needed
Key requirements- Juris Doctor from an accredited law school and admission to the state bar in good standing
- Minimum of 2 years of civil litigation experience; insurance-claims, commercial litigation, or personal injury defense preferred
- Experience with depositions, pre-trial discovery, and motion practice; prior trial experience required
- Experience in arbitration and mediation; first-chair mediation experience strongly preferred
- Proven courtroom experience in state and federal courts
- Strong legal research, drafting, and advocacy skills with a track record of persuasive brief-writing
- Excellent client communication and negotiation skills; ability to manage expectations and build relationships
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and handle a high-volume caseload with attention to detail
- Familiarity with litigation management software, e-discovery tools, and standard office technology
