Overview You will serve as a federally funded cross-designated prosecutor, split between the Kentucky Attorney General's Office and U.S. Attorney's Offices in the Eastern and Western Districts. The role targets drug, human trafficking, fraud, and immigration-related crimes across Kentucky, with responsibilities spanning trial work, coordination with federal and state partners, and appellate proceedings. This three-year FFTL position emphasizes public safety, collaborative enforcement, and high-impact litigation. You will shape investigations, prepare for trial, and contribute to cross-jurisdictional efforts that advance justice.
Responsibilities- Prosecute drug trafficking, including fentanyl and precursors; human trafficking; fraud; and criminal aliens across Kentucky
- Prosecute in collaboration with Eastern and Western U.S. Attorneys' Offices and the National Fraud Enforcement Division
- Provide trial preparation guidance, conduct witness/victim interviews, and craft persuasive trial themes
- Draft appellate briefs and present oral arguments before the Sixth Circuit
- Coordinate investigations with state and federal partners, ensuring admissible evidence and efficient resource use
- Support local prosecutors and assist with related appeals
- Travel across counties; work with multi-disciplinary teams to align investigative efforts
Key requirements- United States citizen or national
- J.D. degree and active Kentucky Bar Association membership
- Four years of experience as a licensed attorney in Kentucky
- Good standing and ability to maintain licensure; valid driver's license
- Successful completion of pre-employment checks and background investigation
