Overview In this role you support the Norfolk District Attorney's Appeals Unit by handling Public Records requests and related subpoenas. You will draft and argue briefs on post-conviction matters and assist with trial-related work, prioritizing timely legal responses. The position is based in Canton, MA, with travel to courts across the Commonwealth and a predominantly in-person work arrangement. You work as part of a public-interest team focused on transparency and legal accountability, contributing to timely, accurate responses and appellate support. This is an opportunity to apply criminal justice experience to high-stakes records work within a respected district attorney's office.
Responsibilities- Respond to Public Records requests and subpoenas under the Public Records Law
- Draft and argue briefs and other post-conviction submissions
- Research and respond to time-sensitive legal questions
- Provide trial assistance as needed
- Coordinate travel to courts within the Commonwealth
Key requirements- Must be a licensed attorney in good standing in Massachusetts
- At least 1+ year experience working with the criminal justice system
- Position based in Canton, MA
