Overview As Privacy Counsel, you will guide U.S. privacy compliance and provide global support, helping the company manage risk and enable responsible data use. You'll act as a trusted advisor to business and legal stakeholders, translating complex laws into practical guidance. Responsibilities- Provide practical, business-aligned privacy advice across U.S. operations to enable responsible data use while managing risk
- Serve as first-line contact for privacy inquiries, triaging requests and directing to appropriate response paths
- Advise on day-to-day privacy questions including data collection, use, disclosures, marketing, vendor interactions, and individual rights
- Support privacy risk assessments (PRAs), identify risk triggers, evaluate processing activities, and escalate high-risk matters
- Collaborate with Privacy Operations and cross-functional teams to ensure consistent intake, assessment, and documentation
- Develop and refine standard guidance, templates, and playbooks for scalable privacy advice
- Lead development of practical privacy training and awareness materials for stakeholders
- Serve as primary privacy advisor on HIPAA matters, advising Benefits on compliant health data use and program documentation
- Develop familiarity with health data considerations and emerging privacy risks for routine guidance and escalation
Key requirements- JD with minimum 4 years of U.S. privacy experience (CIPP a plus)
- 4+ years advising multinational organizations on privacy compliance (tech, healthcare, financial, or digital sectors preferred)
- Strong understanding of U.S. and global privacy regulations; IAPP certification preferred
- Proficiency with privacy management platforms (OneTrust, BigID, TrustArc, ServiceNow)
- Proven track record in project execution and process development
- Strong legal and business judgment with ability to translate complex requirements into practical guidance
- Experience advising on HIPAA and health data privacy compliance, including policies and procedures
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management in a global, matrixed environment
- Self-starter with strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities
