Overview In this role you support Gilead's Medical Affairs and Clinical Data Science contracts, drafting and negotiating a range of agreements. You work under a senior attorney to facilitate R&D operations and ensure compliant, efficient contracting. You'll partner with cross-functional teams to manage risk, improve templates, and help scale contract processes. This position offers high-volume, fast-paced collaboration in a global biotech setting, with meaningful impact on how research and data partnerships are governed.

Responsibilities- Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating medical affairs, research, and clinical data science contracts (data transfer agreements, data licenses, collaboration agreements, MSAs, work orders, change orders, NDAs)
- Preparing master services agreements, consulting agreements, NDAs, and related documents for Medical Affairs and Clinical Data Science
- Advising clients on legal concerns including IP and data security/privacy and communicating business risks
- Reviewing contracts to identify issues and discuss solutions with senior attorneys or clients
- Developing templates and procedures to improve efficiency in the review process
- Analyzing complex problems and recommending next steps
- Escalating issues appropriately and handling most contract matters end-to-end
- Explaining contract terms clearly to clients and collaborating with cross-functional teams
- Managing transactional negotiations and resolving potential disputes
- Maintaining productive workflows with diverse stakeholders across the organization
Key requirements- 3+ years of in-house or law firm experience counseling on medical affairs or clinical data science agreements in biotech, pharma, or medical research
- Juris Doctorate or equivalent advanced degree
- Bar admission in California, in-house counsel registration, or ability to obtain within 90 days
