Overview Experienced IP lawyer leading the Intellectual Property Group within a premier asset manager. You will drive the firm's global IP strategy, oversee day-to-day IP operations, and counsel on branding, licensing, and data use across geographies. You'll collaborate with legal, compliance, risk, and business teams to scale IP services and embed IP by design in product development and marketing. Responsibilities- Support global IP strategy execution across trademarks, copyrights, trade secrets, domain names, patents, and proprietary content
- Lead brand, product, service, and campaign naming with trademark clearance, risk assessment, filing strategy, and launch readiness
- Oversee enforcement and disputes, including investigations, cease-and-desist, brand protection, and domain issues
- Draft, negotiate, and advise on IP licenses and related agreements
- Advise on IP provisions in complex commercial contracts with diverse third parties
- Manage outside counsel and ensure portfolio strategy, deadlines, budgets, and deliverables
- Ensure compliance with third-party IP, data, and contractual usage requirements in collaboration with stakeholders
- Oversee day-to-day IP group operations, triage, workflow management, and stakeholder communications
- Coordinate IP priorities with internal teams, regional partners, and external counsel
- Develop playbooks, templates, and self-service tools for consistent IP counseling
- Lead IP training programs and embed IP by design in business activities and transactions
- Identify and leverage AI and workflow tools to improve IP portfolio management and service delivery
- Drive process improvements, controls, and scalable operating models for IP function
Key requirements- J.D. from an accredited law school
- Active membership in at least one U.S. state bar
- 10+ years of IP legal experience in corporate or law firm settings
- Proven ability to advise independently on complex IP matters
- Strong knowledge of U.S. and global IP laws; experience in portfolio management, clearance, prosecution, licensing, enforcement, and brand protection
