Overview In this role you perform hands-on laboratory analyses of petroleum products and related substances to generate accurate reports. You will operate GC and other lab instruments, apply ASTM methods, and supervise technicians to ensure proper training. You'll uphold safety and reporting standards while delivering precise results under pressure. Your work supports SGS's mission of quality and integrity in testing and certification at scale.
Responsibilities- Perform laboratory analyses on crude oil, fuels, middle distillates, and petrochemical products (hands-on bench work)
- Operate Gas Chromatograph and other laboratory equipment
- ensure current laboratory safety and reporting techniques
- guide and potentially supervise Laboratory Technicians to maintain training
- maintain proficiency with analysis methods and standards (ASTM)
- perform additional duties as assigned
Key requirements- Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry or related science preferred, or equivalent work experience with minimum 1 year in a laboratory
- Valid Driver's License
- TWIC
- Knowledge of ASTM standards
- Ability to work with chemical, petrochemical and petroleum products
- Ability to distinguish colors by sight
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
