Overview In this role you will oversee and enhance laboratory quality systems and QA programs, guiding technicians and chemists to ensure compliant, accurate analyses. You will perform hands-on lab work, operate GC and other equipment, and participate in audits while reporting results to stakeholders. You'll mentor staff, support corrective actions, and maintain safety and methods knowledge to uphold SGS quality standards. This position offers impact across the lab's quality culture and regulatory readiness.
Responsibilities- Monitor and develop laboratory quality systems and QA programs
- Collaborate with local and national teams to identify deficiencies and implement solutions
- Perform hands-on laboratory analysis and operate GC and other equipment
- Provide guidance and training to Laboratory Technicians and Chemists, including supervisory duties
- Stay current with laboratory analysis methods and safety/reporting techniques
- Participate in audits and perform calibrations and troubleshooting
- Assist managers with corrective and preventive action (CAPA)
- Report results to internal and external customers as needed
- Perform other duties as assigned
Key requirements- 5+ years in a regulated commercial lab environment
- 1+ year of protocol and report writing experience
- Advanced knowledge of routine and non-routine testing methods OR Bachelor Degree in Chemistry and related disciplines
- 7+ years in oil, gas, and chemical industry laboratory experience (preferred)
- TWIC (Required)
- Knowledge of ASTM standards
- Ability to work with chemical, petrochemical and petroleum products
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to synthesize information and work under pressure with attention to detail
