Overview In this role you will independently manage a broad range of commercial real estate diligence tasks to support closing and transaction teams. You will lead title, survey, and zoning reviews, advise on standards, and coordinate with title companies and consultants. You will mentor paralegals and junior lawyers, ensuring timely, accurate deliverables. This position offers a path to shape diligence processes within a high-caliber real estate practice and impact complex closings.
Responsibilities- Independently conduct and oversee title, survey and zoning reviews for commercial real estate transactions, including summaries, abstracts, and related documents
- Advise on ALTA title insurance standards, NSPS survey standards and zoning ordinances
- Negotiate and finalize diligence documentation with title companies, surveyors and zoning consultants
- Highlight diligence issues and advise on resolution with attorneys
- Review recordable transaction documents for proper form
- Oversee post-closing title, survey and zoning obligations and track outstanding items
- Lead training, supervision and mentoring of paralegals and junior associates in diligence review
- Assist closing paralegals in finalizing closing binders and deliveries
Key requirements- Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school
- Bar admission in resident/affiliated office
- Minimum 5 years of commercial real estate practice with extensive due diligence for closings
- Commercial real estate experience (not residential)
- Experience handling financing and acquisitions
