Overview

In this role you will lead the Insurance AR team within Bayhealth, coordinating billing and follow-up to optimize account collections and minimize losses. You will partner with Employed Physician Practices and Revenue Cycle to ensure compliant, accurate billing and timely reconciliations. You will drive performance, reporting, and process improvements in a fast-paced hospital setting, shaping AR outcomes and payer relationships. This is a hands-on leadership role with significant impact on cash flow and patient accounts. You will work with cross-functional teams to deliver measurable improvements and uphold Bayhealth values.

Responsibilities
  • Supervise the department team, including hiring, performance evaluation, training, and discipline; delegate tasks as needed
  • Set clear procedures and goals with the PFS Leadership Team; monitor financial and operational performance
  • Manage Accounts Receivable for all insurance AR in Epic HB and PB modules; ensure compliance with payor rules and Bayhealth policies; monitor vendor performance
  • Conduct monthly rounding on direct reports, maintain rounding logs and stop light reports to support communication and continuous improvement
  • Monitor resolution of insurance credit balances and provide education to address gaps
  • Review QA results with staff and deliver training to address performance improvements
  • Contribute to development of education materials for new hires and ongoing training
  • Prepare monthly AR performance reports for large payers, physician practices, and vendors; escalate issues to appropriate authorities as needed
  • Maintain Epic ARCR certifications as applicable
  • Assess system change requests for payer impact and validate supporting documentation
  • Manage access to Medicare Novitasphere and Medicaid portals
  • Perform other duties within scope as assigned
Key requirements
  • Five years in patient accounting, third-party reimbursement, or related field
  • Minimum three years in a supervisor/leadership role
  • Experience in revenue cycle or AR management in healthcare
  • Excellent communication
  • Change agent / adaptable
  • Collaborative and team-oriented
  • Epic HB and PB modules
  • Epic ARCR certifications (preferred)
  • AR aging and denial management
