Overview As Attorney Advisor in the MCAD Investigations Division, you counsel Investigators on legal questions, ensure rigorous investigative analysis, and draft orders and dispositions. You review cases for jurisdiction, legal issues, and public-interest concerns, and may prosecute when assigned. You support informal resolution and participate in hearings, with duties spanning public information and cross-office collaboration. Your work helps shape enforcement and public policy in Massachusetts.
Responsibilities- Serve as legal advisor to assigned Compliance Officers and staff
- Draft orders on motions and sua sponte actions; review dispositions for accuracy
- Identify novel legal issues and flag cases of public interest for notice to leadership
- Review appeals from findings of Lack of Probable Cause and assess jurisdictional questions
- May conduct preliminary or special investigations and assist in informal resolutions
- Represent the agency at trainings and continuing legal education seminars as assigned
- Provide information to the public on agency functions, rules, and regulations
- Perform related investigative and administrative duties as required
Key requirements- Juris Doctor (JD) degree
- Admission to the Massachusetts Bar
- Experience in legal research, legal writing, and legal procedures/processes
- Possession of a current and valid Motor Vehicle Drivers License may be required by assignment
