Field Geologist/Team Lead

Overview

In this role you will lead field geological work and oversee site safety for environmental projects across the California region. You will ensure data quality from field operations, supervise drilling and sampling, and coordinate with project teams to keep work plans, safety plans, and subcontractor arrangements on track. You'll translate site observations into actionable insights and contribute to remediation efforts and data evaluations. This is a hands-on, collaborative position with meaningful impact on project success and safety culture.

Responsibilities
  • Plan field events and data collection, ensure subcontractors and materials are in place
  • Review health and safety plans and field work plans before execution
  • Lead field preparation, data collection, sample management, and documentation
  • Ensure data quality objectives are met across pre-field, field, and post-field activities
  • Supervise drilling and well installations, with proper documentation
  • Perform lithologic/soil descriptions and environmental sampling per SOPs
  • Complete field paperwork digitally or legibly for archive
  • Support and troubleshoot remediation equipment and field operations
  • Contribute to conceptual site models and hydrogeologic descriptions
  • Develop groundwater elevations, gradients, and flow directions; assist in modeling
  • Evaluate receptors and fate/transport of contaminants; assist in data visualization with GIS/CADD
  • Provide project support including schedule tracking, progress reports, and subcontractor coordination
  • Support procurement activities and bid tracking
  • Foster safe field work practices and maintain driving compliance
Key requirements
  • BS in geological sciences
  • 3-5 years of experience
  • Excellent Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, SharePoint skills
  • Good verbal and written communication
  • Ability to work independently and in a team
  • Willingness to travel domestically (generally up to 2 weeks)
  • Ability to pass Federal Background Check and DMV check with clean driving record
