Overview In this remote role, you will lead origination, program management, and underwriting for ancillary insurance and reinsurance within the Medical Business Unit. You'll work to drive profitability, portfolio performance, and partner relationships, aligning with A&H's growth strategy. You will collaborate with actuaries, operations, and distribution partners to design and service products and to pursue new business opportunities. Responsibilities- Drive profitability, retention, and written premium goals for the MBU
- Evaluate portfolio performance using profitability metrics and oversee continuous improvement
- Build and maintain relationships with distribution partners (brokers, MGUs)
- Underwrite risk with tools, conduct annual reviews, and document client correspondence
- Advise on underwriting rules, risk management principles, and regulatory compliance
- Manage data flows from client companies to monitor results against targets
- Develop annual business goals for assigned client partners
- Identify new business opportunities and coordinate with Business Development
- Maintain deep knowledge of department products and articulate value proposition
- Coordinate onboarding and due diligence for distribution partners and service providers
- Monitor market trends and emerging threats; advise on product development for distribution and compliance
- Coordinate reinsurance support, including renewal terms and agreements
- Participate in strategic planning, training, and cross-functional projects
- Lead multi-functional teams and projects to achieve departmental goals
Key requirements- 10+ years of experience; 8+ years ancillary experience; 2+ years with reinsurance structures, underwriting and contracts preferred
- Underwriting expertise in ancillary benefits; strong knowledge of underwriting philosophy and regulations
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills
- Excellent organizational and time management; ability to multitask with focus on quality and customer service
- Strong risk management and math skills; negotiation and influencing abilities
- Bachelor's degree; underwriting and industry designations a plus
- Strong computer skills including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint
