Overview In this role you will lead underwriting for excess and umbrella risk, shaping risk acceptance and pricing strategies. You will work within the NYC underwriting team to build and sustain strong broker and client relationships, ensuring disciplined risk selection and pricing. You will collaborate with peers, brokers, and claims/loss control to deepen market contacts and support long-term partnerships. This role offers the opportunity to influence book growth in upper middle market to Fortune 500 accounts within a collaborative, values-driven culture.

Responsibilities- Analyze potential and existing clients by reviewing financial condition, loss history, and exposure to determine underwriting acceptability
- Assess risk and set appropriate rates and coverage levels
- Establish and maintain relationships with peers, clients, and brokers/agents
- Engage in broker management and participate in agency visitations with underwriters, claims, and loss control to develop industry contacts
Key requirements- 10+ years of Excess Casualty underwriting experience
- Strong and current wholesale broker relationships
- Experience handling upper middle market to Fortune 500 accounts
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and exercise independent judgment
- Team player who is organized, detail-oriented, flexible, and eager to learn
- Occasional travel including overnight trips
- Bachelor's degree with a major in Insurance or related field
