Clinical Laboratory Technologist - Special Chemistry

Overview

In this Technologist role, you ensure specimen suitability and run routine to complex tests, using established SOPs. You will monitor and troubleshoot instruments, make technical testing decisions, and contribute to quality results that support patient care. You'll prepare reagents, perform QC, and help maintain a safe, well supplied lab. This position fits within Labcorp's mission to advance diagnostics and health outcomes through science and data-driven solutions. You'll work in a high-volume environment with cross functional teams to deliver timely, accurate results.

Responsibilities
  • Determine specimen acceptability according to criteria
  • Perform routine and complex procedures per SOPs
  • Monitor, operate, and troubleshoot instruments
  • Make technical decisions regarding testing
  • Prepare, test and evaluate new reagents or controls
  • Report accurate test results for quality patient care
  • Conduct preventative maintenance and quality control procedures
  • Identify and replenish testing bench supplies
  • Assist with specimen processing when needed
  • Maintain safety and wear PPE
Key requirements
  • 1 year or more of clinical laboratory testing experience OR MLS degree
  • ASCP or AMT certification (preferred)
  • Understanding of laboratory operations and policies/procedures
  • Experience in high-volume laboratory environments
  • Ability to work independently and in a team
  • Proficient with computers; familiarity with laboratory information systems
  • High attention to detail; strong communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to handle the physical requirements of the position
  • Ability to pass a standardized color blindness test
  • Flexibility to work overtime or other shifts as needed
