Overview In this role you perform moderate to high complexity laboratory tests on blood and body fluids to ensure accurate results. You work with minimal supervision, uphold quality control and maintain instruments, supporting patient care through efficient testing and data collection for regulatory compliance. You may teach new staff and students and perform phlebotomy as needed. You collaborate with peers to ensure timely reporting and safe, compliant laboratory operations.

Responsibilities- Perform moderate and high complexity laboratory tests accurately and efficiently with timely reporting
- Adhere to quality control procedures, analyze data, troubleshoot out-of-range results, and implement corrective actions
- Conduct regular instrument checks and preventative maintenance per policies
- Troubleshoot instrument malfunctions and coordinate with appropriate personnel or manufacturers
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and use of PPE per Laboratory Safety Plan
- Assist with proficiency testing and data collection for accreditation and regulatory compliance
- Collect chain-of-custody urine drug screens and perform phlebotomy duties as needed
- Collaborate with team to complete shift duties and department responsibilities
- Maintain regular attendance and comply with policies and standards
- Perform other duties as assigned
Key requirements- Bachelor's Degree in Medical Technology or related fields or passing CLT proficiency exam (HEW/HHS)
- 0-2 years of acute care experience
- Strong knowledge of laboratory procedures, quality control, and safety regulations
- Ability to troubleshoot lab instruments and maintain accurate records using LIS
- Excellent organizational, time management, and communication skills
- Licenses/Certifications: ASCP Medical Technologist or equivalent (AMT, AAB)
- Proficiency in handling phlebotomy and urine drug screens
