Overview In this role you will advance optical analyses and radiometry for space EO/IR payload programs, partnering with senior engineers to model system performance and support from concept through on-orbit operations. You will work within the Optical Sensor System Group to shape architecture, interfaces, and requirements for space payloads, solving complex optical problems that impact system capability. This position offers exposure to end-to-end payload development, from pre-award concepts to production support and mission operations, in a high-security environment. You will collaborate with cross-functional experts and interact with customers and senior leadership, contributing to impactful space
Responsibilities- Develop optical models and radiometry analyses for EO/IR systems
- Create performance models for tracking and detection algorithms
- Support payload concept development, system architecture, requirements, and trade studies
- Conduct systems modeling and simulation; contribute to design content and reviews
- Collaborate with senior scientists and optical engineers to guide and validate work
Key requirements- Bachelors, Masters, or PhD in a scientific or related technical field with substantial relevant experience
- Experience leading design, testing, and operation of EO/IR space payloads
- Experience with real-time capture and image processing for electro-optical imaging systems
- Proficiency in optical analysis tools and complex system modeling
- Ability to present results to customers and senior management
- Ability to obtain/maintain Top Secret and/or SCI clearance
