Overview In this role, you will lead advanced in-vivo mouse/rat cardiac and vascular surgery within a fast-growing cardiovascular research program. You will design and execute longitudinal studies, generate high-quality functional and molecular data, and support target validation and therapeutic development. Collaboration with cross-functional teams will align surgical work with program goals, and you'll contribute to publications and regulatory-ready data. Responsibilities- Perform surgical models of cardiac and vascular disease in mice and rats (e.g., TAC, MI, RKM)
- Administer test articles via IV, SC, IM or osmotic minipumps with longitudinal consistency
- Implant and monitor telemetry devices for blood pressure and ECG in conscious rodents
- Conduct invasive hemodynamic assessments using PV-loop methodology
- Ex vivo tissue collection and Langendorff-based cardiac dissociation
- Manage end-to-end in-vivo study logistics and post-operative care
- Analyze physiological and hemodynamic data using PRISM, PONEMAH, and related tools
- Generate figures and data summaries for internal, regulatory, and publication use
- Maintain rigorous animal welfare records and study protocols
- Collaborate with study directors and cross-functional teams to align approaches with goals
- Flag capacity or scheduling issues to stakeholders
Key requirements- BS with 10+ years or MS with 6+ years in Physiology, Biomedical Sciences, Veterinary Science or related field
- Hands-on expertise in rodent cardiac/vascular surgical models (TAC, MI, RKM)
- Proficiency in rodent dosing techniques and telemetry implantation
- Experience with invasive hemodynamic measurements including PV-loop
- Langendorff perfusion and cardiac tissue dissociation experience
- Proficiency with data analysis software (PRISM, PONEMAH)
- Strong knowledge of rodent anatomy, physiology, and survival surgery practices
- Excellent organizational, communication, and documentation skills
- Commitment to scientific rigor and animal welfare
- Preferred: experience with additional cardiovascular functional assessment techniques or GLP/regulatory environment
