Loco Boys Brewing Company is looking for an experienced, motivated Sous Chef to join our kitchen leadership team.

Loco Boys is an independent restaurant and brewery with a scratch kitchen rooted in authentic Mexican dishes and flavors. We give our culinary team room to be creative and push beyond the expected. Food is a key part of the Loco Boys experience, and were continuing to push our kitchen and menu forward.

Were looking for someone who can cook at a high level and lead a kitchen.

The right person is organized, dependable, calm under pressure and comfortable taking ownership.

What youll do

Help lead day-to-day kitchen operations and service

Work alongside and support our Chef in running a consistent, efficient kitchen

Lead by example on the line and be willing to jump into any station when needed

Help train, develop and cross-train kitchen staff

Maintain strong standards for food quality, execution, cleanliness and organization

Help manage prep levels, pars, ordering and inventory

Keep the kitchen prepared without unnecessary overproduction or waste

Help build efficient opening and closing routines

Assist with scheduling and labor management based on projected business levels

Help maintain recipe consistency, portion control and food-cost standards

Contribute ideas to menu development, seasonal features and elevated dishes

Help create a kitchen culture built around accountability, communication and teamwork

What were looking for

You should have:

Strong line-cooking and kitchen fundamentals

Previous kitchen leadership experience

The ability to lead and earn the respect of a team

Strong organization and communication skills

An understanding of labor, food cost, waste and the business side of a kitchen

The ability to stay composed and make good decisions during high-volume service

High standards and attention to detail

Dependability and a strong sense of ownership

About Loco Boys

Loco Boys is an independent, locally owned restaurant and brewery located in Traverse City. We opened in 2023 and have continued to grow while developing a food program that goes well beyond traditional brewery fare.

Our kitchen is built around scratch cooking, with dishes inspired by authentic Mexican cuisine and flavors at the heart of what we do. We dont believe every dish has to fit neatly into one box. We want to give our culinary team the freedom to be creative, explore new ideas and continue elevating the food program while staying true to what makes Loco Boys unique.

Position: Full-time Sous Chef

Compensation: Competitive pay based on experience and qualifications.
