Horticulture Supervisor

Overview

In this role you lead the horticultural team to create and maintain a vibrant, multi-season landscape that reflects Nemacolin's luxury resort identity. You work hands-on in exterior gardens and interior plantings, driving plant health, soil fertility, and pest management aligned with a long-term master plan. You collaborate across the resort to enhance guest experiences through curated gardens, tours, and exhibits. You'll shape the horticulture program and budget while upholding brand standards and Forbes service expectations.

Responsibilities
  • Lead and train the horticultural staff to high standards.
  • Hands-on involvement in daily garden tasks and interior plant care.
  • Oversee plant health, soil fertility, and integrated pest management.
  • Assist in implementing the master plan and long-term garden vision.
  • Maintain inventory, procedures, and equipment for gardens.
  • Manage horticulture budget and capital projects.
  • Design and execute gardens, tours, and guest-focused experiences.
  • Align actions with guest needs using the horticulture master plan.
  • Guide staff in guest interactions and brand standards.
  • Recruit, coach, and develop horticulture associates.
  • Plan daily activities for watering, pruning, and planting.
  • Create SOPs for clarity, accountability, and safety.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Key requirements
  • Certification in horticulture, botany, natural sciences, or related field
  • Experience with greenhouse operations, propagation, chemical applications, insect and disease control, plant health, pruning
  • Heavy equipment experience (skid steers, forklifts, backhoes, snowplows, tractors)
  • Minimum 2 years as a team leader or manager with planning and scheduling abilities
