About the Opportunity
FHMD partners with senior communities and other organizations to provide engaging enrichment experiences for older adults. Our goal is to offer classes that encourage movement, participation, social connection, confidence, and continued learning.
Classes should be designed with the needs of older adults in mind. Instructors should be comfortable offering modifications and providing options for participants with different abilities, mobility levels, and fitness experience.
This is a contract teaching opportunity, making it a potential fit for fitness professionals who also work at gyms, studios, recreation centers, private practices, or other locations.
Class Format
Programs vary based on the needs of each community. Typical opportunities may include:
Weekly or recurring classes
Single workshops or special programs
Classes ranging from approximately minutes
Programs offered at senior living communities, 50+ communities, and other partner locations
Primarily in-person instruction
Instructors provide FHMD with their areas of expertise, preferred class types, service area, and availability. FHMD then seeks opportunities that may be a match.
Joining the FHMD instructor roster does not guarantee a specific number of classes or hours. We continue looking for appropriate opportunities for approved instructors until they ask us to stop.
When a class becomes available, FHMD will send an official offer by email. Instructors must respond within 24 hours to accept, decline, or discuss the opportunity.
Compensation
Compensation ranges from $40 $60 per class for typical minute sessions.
The actual rate may vary based on enrollment, program funding, class format, and other assignment-specific factors.
This range reflects the compensation FHMD reasonably anticipates offering for this type of contracted role across the United States.
Contractor Position
This is an independent contracted teaching artist/instructor position.
FHMD does not provide employer-sponsored health insurance, retirement benefits, paid time off, or other traditional employee benefits. Instructors have the flexibility to indicate their availability and accept assignments that fit their schedules.

Leading age-appropriate fitness and movement activities.
