Overview In this Senior Cost Engineer role, you support the Military Aircraft Group by shaping cost proposals for defense programs. You'll partner with engineering, program management, contracts, finance, and leadership to craft pricing strategies that drive business growth. Responsibilities- Lead competitive and sole-source proposal efforts with pricing strategies and cost models from development through award
- Develop, analyze, coordinate, and support cost proposals for government and commercial customers ensuring compliance with customer requirements and Moog practices
- Review RFPs, provide pricing guidance to cross-functional teams, and ensure adherence to FAR, DFARS, CAS, TINA and other regulatory requirements
- Partner with engineering, operations, finance, contracts, supply chain, and program management to develop accurate, defendable cost estimates
- Prepare, review, and present cost estimates, pricing recommendations, and proposal packages to leadership, customers, and government audit agencies
- Lead RFIs, fact-finding, pre-negotiation positions, pricing certifications, audit support, and other customer-facing pricing discussions
- Document and defend cost and pricing positions to support negotiations, audits, and regulatory compliance
- Represent the pricing function during executive reviews, customer engagements, and key business decision forums
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives in proposal cycle time, process standardization, pricing tools, databases, analytics, and reporting
- Mentor junior team members and serve as SME for cost engineering and pricing best practices
Key requirements- Five or more years of experience in cost engineering, pricing, contracts, proposal development, estimating, or related discipline
- Strong knowledge of cost engineering principles, pricing methodologies, and proposal development practices
- Experience supporting pricing, sales, contracts, or business development activities
- Working knowledge of FAR, DFARS, CAS, and TINA
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to influence stakeholders at multiple levels
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
- Ability to access U.S. export-controlled information
- Experience with SAP ERP systems (preferred)
- Knowledge of AI-driven analytics, pricing tools, or advanced data analysis capabilities (preferred)
