Overview In this role you will act as a strategic legal partner to Masco's businesses and corporate functions, handling complex litigation, product liability, and regulatory matters. You will translate legal requirements into actionable business guidance while balancing risk with commercial objectives. You'll work cross-functionally with engineering, regulatory, quality, and other teams to prevent disputes and manage exposures. This position offers a chance to shape risk management and legal strategy at a company focused on responsible product stewardship and governance.
Responsibilities- Provide strategic legal counsel on litigation, product liability, product compliance, and regulatory matters
- Develop and execute litigation and risk-management strategies balancing exposure, business objectives, and reputational risk
- Manage complex disputes from inception to resolution including discovery, negotiations, and trial preparation
- Direct outside counsel, including strategy, staffing, budgets, and cost management
- Partner with business leaders to identify emerging legal risks and mitigate exposure
- Advise on product compliance and safety matters including recalls and investigations
- Monitor regulatory and litigation trends and translate them into actionable guidance
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to address legal and business issues
- Provide timely advice to senior management on disputes, risks, and regulatory developments
- Develop and deliver legal and regulatory training with emphasis on risk prevention
- Support continuous improvement of litigation and risk-management processes and knowledge sharing
- Contribute to a collaborative Legal Department culture and consistent high-quality support
Key requirements- Bachelor's degree and Juris Doctorate (J.D.) from an accredited institution
- Active bar admission in at least one U.S. jurisdiction
- 10+ years of relevant legal experience, including complex litigation
- Experience in commercial litigation, product liability, product compliance, or related regulatory matters
- Experience managing outside counsel, budgets, and staffing
- Ability to assess legal risk in context of business objectives and provide practical recommendations
- Ability to operate in a decentralized organization and influence outcomes
- Strong strategic thinking and judgment to anticipate issues and mitigate risks
- Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills across levels
- Strong written and verbal communication skills for clear business advice
