Overview In this role you will serve as sole North America privacy counsel, guiding U.S. and Canadian privacy requirements for the business. You will advise on routine privacy queries, data incidents, and regulatory considerations while supporting the Global Privacy Program. You'll review projects for privacy impact and due diligence, helping the business navigate evolving laws. This is an opportunity to shape responsible privacy practices as Moody's advances AI-enabled risk insights. You'll work closely with cross-functional teams to enable compliant, innovative solutions across North America.

Responsibilities- Act as North America privacy counsel, advising on U.S. and Canadian privacy, direct marketing, data breach and data broker laws
- Assist with day-to-day privacy inquiries, opt-out requests, employee monitoring, contract reviews, data incidents, and disclosures
- Evaluate privacy considerations for specific projects, including impact analyses, M&A due diligence, regulatory inquiries, and litigation
- Provide legal support on emerging data privacy and related laws in the U.S.
Key requirements- At least two years of relevant experience at a leading law firm and/or in-house in a privacy role
- Practical knowledge of U.S. state and federal privacy, direct marketing, data breach and data broker laws
- Strong judgment with the ability to translate complex legal requirements into actionable guidance
- Curiosity and adaptability to monitor evolving legal requirements and emerging risks
- Basic understanding of AI concepts and interest in responsible AI practices
- J.D. from an accredited law school and admission to at least one state bar
