Overview In this role you drive the development of associates at a leading global law firm, shaping training, staffing, and feedback processes across practice groups. You collaborate with leaders and ADPs to address development needs, align assignments with growth goals, and monitor metrics to support associates' progression. Your work spans formal skills programs, staffing integration, and cross-office collaboration to strengthen talent outcomes and firm competency. Responsibilities- Collaborate with practice leaders and ADPs to address individual development needs of associates
- Facilitate regular feedback between partners and associates and support practice group partner meetings
- Maintain records on individual associates' development and identify talent gaps
- Provide development opportunities and actionable feedback to attorneys; support upcoming formal reviews
- Coordinate with staff to input development data into the attorney review system
- Integrate staffing and training opportunities to support associates' growth
- Oversee assignment coordination with ADSs for cross-office workload balance
- Expose lawyers to opportunities across practice groups and support growth goals in assignments
- Plan and integrate professional development goals into the assignment process and practice group planning
- Support pro bono work levels and assist with planning related to practice groups
- Track and analyze associate metrics (availability, utilization) to guide productivity targets
- Collaborate on future workforce planning with practice groups and leadership
- Contribute to formal skills training program design with training committees and leadership
- Support recruitment, orientation, mentoring, and other professional development initiatives
- Coordinate with talent, recruiting, and professional development for seamless onboarding of new/lateral associates
- Collaborate with legal recruiting on summer associate trainings and events
- Develop strategic programming for associates with practice groups
- Provide hands-on support to offices including international offices when needed
Key requirements- J.D. and 4-6 years of practice experience (corporate or litigation) or 5+ years in a professional services HR environment
- Minimum 2 years of staffing, professional development, or practice support experience
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel) and familiarity with databases like viDesktop
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks, and handle confidential information
- Energetic, proactive, and able to respond quickly to shifting demands and tight deadlines
