Overview In this role you will direct and oversee mechanical estimating efforts for lump-sum, unit-rate, and cost-plus proposals, from initial cost analysis to definitive estimates. You will lead pre-construction activities and coordinate cross-functional estimating across project phases. You'll provide technical support to Project Managers, ensure estimate accuracy, and champion continuous improvement in estimating practices. Responsibilities- Delegate technical and administrative duties to team members while maintaining accountability
- Prepare and verify cost estimates for proposals and projects to meet plan requirements
- Coordinate and review all aspects of estimates and their presentation
- Maintain and utilize the estimating database
- Advise Project Manager on estimates across varying scopes and complexities
- Assess estimate accuracy and recommend contingencies
- Plan and develop estimating procedures and training programs
- Identify improvement opportunities and support change management
- Perform pre-construction scope reviews and risk assessments
- Support Project Controls and Project Execution teams with schedule development and constructability input
- Lead and participate in pre-construction activities including EHS planning and QA/QC considerations
- Oversee workflow and staffing to align with schedules and budgets
- Assist leadership with independent assessment of estimate accuracy
- Respect and promote continuous improvement within estimating teams
- Develop and mentor subordinates in estimating techniques and capabilities
- Stay aware of external estimating developments and applicable innovations
- Participate in site investigations and value engineering opportunities
Key requirements- 10+ years of relevant experience including estimating
- Leadership experience with management interactions
- Thorough understanding of the construction estimating process
- Ability to complete pre-employment onboarding requirements (background check, drug screen, etc.)
