Overview As Lead Estimator, you prepare detailed cost estimates for a diverse client base across water, conveyance, civil, and hydro projects. You will work with design teams to scope, price, and manage complex bids, bridging technical and commercial perspectives. Responsibilities- Ensure estimate compliance for each project and produce complete cost estimates
- Perform quantity takeoffs and assign crew productivity by discipline
- Review scopes against project documents for accuracy and completeness
- Prepare estimates for proposals, projects, and studies across diverse facilities
- Collaborate with design teams to understand complexity and process requirements
- Provide technical estimate guidance across all levels of scope and complexity
- Manage multiple estimates and timelines; coordinate with design, operations, and procurement
- Assess accuracy of estimates and suggest contingencies (lump sum, defined, interim)
- Assist in independent assessment of estimate accuracy with man-hours, materials, and costs
- Direct, train, and develop junior estimators; promote continuous improvement
- Plan, review, and verify all aspects of estimates and presentations
- Support formal training to maintain estimating capabilities
- Maintain familiarity with external estimating developments and suggest applications
- Identify opportunities to add value and champion improvement efforts
- Handle other administrative, supervisory, and technical duties as assigned
- Maintain the estimating database
Key requirements- 8 to 20 years of relevant experience, including estimating experience
