Associate Director, AI Security Frontier Engineering

Overview

In this role you will own the security architecture and deployment patterns for a designated frontier-AI platform, driving secure, compliant integrations. You will design automated controls across NIST CSF and OWASP Top 10 to prevent data leakage and prompt injection, and lead end-to-end security initiatives from risk assessment to release. You will develop reusable patterns and raise the security bar across AI ecosystems, while maturing telemetry and detection to support SOC operations. You will mentor teams and communicate risks clearly to leadership, contributing to a secure, high-trust AI capability at scale.

Responsibilities
  • Serve as subject matter expert for frontier-AI platform security and deployment patterns
  • Design and implement automated controls aligned with NIST CSF and OWASP Top 10
  • Lead end-to-end security engineering initiatives with minimal oversight
  • Create cross-platform architecture patterns and engineering standards
  • Advance security telemetry, logging standards, data source onboarding, and threat-informed detection content
  • Coordinate detection logic and playbooks with CSIRT and operations teams; mentor peers
  • Communicate risks and solutions to leadership and engineering audiences
  • Uphold professional and respectful work environment
Key requirements
  • Eight+ years of progressive experience in security engineering or cloud security
  • Hands-on experience securing enterprise frontier-AI platforms (e.g., Anthropic Claude, OpenAI ChatGPT Enterprise/Codex, Microsoft M365 Copilot, Google Vertex AI/Gemini)
  • Bachelor's degree in CS, Cybersecurity, or related field; high school diploma or GED required as alternative
  • Industry certifications such as CISSP, CCSP or related cloud credentials preferred
  • Experience designing security controls across AWS/Azure/GCP; familiarity with agentic runtime, prompt-inspection, sandboxing, and logging tooling
  • Strong ability to lead initiatives end-to-end in fast-moving environments; exposure to detection engineering and SIEM
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills to translate technical risk for stakeholders
