Overview

As a trusted legal advisor to product, innovation, and commercial teams, you will guide DeFi, tokenization, and blockchain initiatives within the S&P Dow Jones Indices ecosystem. You'll shape legal frameworks for index construction and licensing in decentralized markets, evaluate novel business models, and translate regulatory developments into actionable guidance. You'll collaborate with cross-functional leaders on emerging products, data products, and technology collaborations, while ensuring compliance and risk management. Responsibilities
  • Lead shaping engagement with decentralized finance, digital assets, and blockchain-based market infrastructure
  • Structure, draft, negotiate and advise on complex commercial agreements related to DeFi, digital assets, licensing indices, data subscription and distribution, and blockchain deployment
  • Collaborate with legal, product, technology and commercial leaders to provide practical, forward-looking legal guidance on emerging products
  • Support compliance through policy review and implementation (confidentiality, insider trading, etc.)
  • Assist with responses to RFPs and due diligence/risk questionnaires
  • Undertake special projects as assigned by management
Key requirements
  • J.D. or LLM and admitted to practice law in relevant jurisdiction
  • 6+ years' legal experience, including commercial contract negotiation and drafting
  • Interest and familiarity with financial services, DeFi, digital asset regulation, blockchain infrastructure, tokenized assets
  • Familiarity with data licensing, IP principles, and business technology
  • Excellent drafting, negotiating and communication skills
  • Ability to manage high-volume, complex environments with sound judgment
