Overview In this role you lead preconstruction efforts with minimal oversight, acting as the main contact for design teams and owners. You will guide multiple project delivery methods and perform both basic and advanced estimating tasks. Your focus spans earthwork, paving, utilities, and structures on transit, civil, and highway projects, delivering detailed take-offs, quotes, estimates, and bid closeouts. You'll work closely with cross-functional teams to shape competitive bids and drive project success.

Responsibilities- Advanced level HCSS knowledge for estimate entry and quote systems
- Estimate all scopes within your discipline area
- Perform detailed quantity take-offs to develop complete cost estimates
- Estimate unit costs by analyzing crew composition, production rates, and equipment
- Participate in detailed reviews with clear estimate explanations
- Use cost history databases to validate production rates
- Prepare supplier bid packages to ensure competitive quotes for self-performed work
- Coordinate junior estimators and interns with takeoff and vendor solicitation
- Assist in obtaining firm quotes from material suppliers, equipment, and subcontractors
- Competent and thorough in your discipline area across all project types
- Earthwork and Mass Grading: geotechnical review, dewatering, blasting, ripping; earthwork flow, phasing; equipment productions
- Paving: aggregates, PCCP, asphalt; quarry identification; production methods; incentives/penalties/PWLs
- Underground Utilities: trench protection, shoring; excavation methods; valve/hydrant assemblies; backfill analysis
- Bridges and Structures: falsework/formwork; post-tensioning; precast yards; cranes; cast-in-place methods
Key requirements- Microsoft Office Suite proficiency
- Four-year engineering degree or equivalent experience
- Ten+ years in an estimating role
- Experience as prime point of contact with minimal oversight
- LEED accreditation and DBIA certification preferred or willingness to obtain
- Ideal experience in one or more key market sectors identified by the business unit
