Overview In this role you drive the development of utility-scale wind projects in the Eastern US, translating strategy into actionable plans. You work with cross-functional teams to advance interconnection, permitting, environmental, engineering, and commercial activities, while managing budgets and risk. You will collaborate with internal and external partners to shape project strategy, secure milestones, and represent AES in stakeholder engagements. The role combines hands-on development with exposure to finance, permitting, and execution, offering growth in a dynamic energy landscape. Responsibilities- Lead all aspects of project development including budgets, schedules, and risk management
- Own project development schedules and budgets with guidance from leadership
- Identify, assess, and resolve risks across permitting, policy, commercial, technical, and schedule workstreams
- Coordinate cross-functional efforts among project partners and subject-matter experts
- Facilitate project meetings with internal and external stakeholders
- Communicate project risks, opportunities, recommendations, and decisions clearly
- Deliver professional presentations and represent project interests in forums
- Manage contractual obligations of key project agreements
- Lead discretionary permitting activities and permit tracking with regulatory authorities
- Coordinate environmental studies, site surveys, and due diligence reporting
- Collaborate with engineering teams on project design and progression
- Support contractor selection with construction management
- Coordinate with execution teams for ministerial permits
- Lead handoff to execution teams once fully developed and permitted
- Support project financing through coordinating diligence and documentation
- Manage relationships with external consultants and contractors
- Provide analysis and reporting support for business development and project pipeline
Key requirements- Approximately 4 to 8 years of experience in project development or a related field
- Bachelor's degree in renewable energy, urban planning, logistics, finance, business, engineering, project or construction management, or related discipline
- Strong organizational and project management skills with attention to detail
- Knowledge of renewable energy project development, utility infrastructure, interconnection processes, permitting, and contracting
- Familiarity with renewable energy and energy storage technologies
- Strong written and verbal communication, including presentations and stakeholder engagement
- Ability to work independently while collaborating in a team
- Willingness to travel 30% of the time
- Experience using CRM platforms and developing project metrics and reporting
- Ability to manage competing priorities in a dynamic environment
