Overview

In this role you will supervise daily lab operations to ensure accurate testing and timely results. You will lead and mentor staff, manage workflow, and ensure shifts are properly staffed and compliant with regulations. You'll drive process improvements and maintain quality systems to support high-volume, reliable lab services. This position offers hands-on bench time when needed and a clear impact on patient care and operational excellence. Responsibilities
  • Oversee daily lab operations and ensure accurate test performance and timely reporting
  • Directly supervise, train, and mentor department personnel
  • Monitor workflow and schedule adequate assay coverage across shifts
  • Ensure proper staffing for all shifts and maintain staffing plans
  • Identify and resolve production errors, escalating as needed
  • Lead continuous process and service level improvements
  • Maintain equipment through Quality Control and supervise QA records
  • Evaluate new process improvements and provide recommendations
  • Coach direct reports regularly and support their development
  • Perform bench work when needed and maintain technical proficiency
  • Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations and policies
  • Administer and manage policies, procedures, payroll, and personnel files
  • Perform administrative duties as required
Key requirements
  • 5+ years of clinical laboratory testing experience
  • Bachelor's degree in a Chemical or Biological science, Clinical Laboratory Science or Medical Technology
  • 2+ years of supervising or leading a team
  • ASCP or AMT certification
  • Knowledge of CLIA, CAP and state regulations
  • Ability to work independently and in a team
  • Proficiency with computers and laboratory information systems
  • Attention to detail, strong communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to pass a color vision screening
