Overview In this role you will perform routine and complex lab tests across chemistry, hematology, microbiology, and blood banking to support accurate diagnoses. You will ensure quality control, maintain equipment, and follow regulatory standards while collaborating with clinicians to inform patient care. You'll work within a hospital laboratory environment, contributing to reliability and safety. This position offers the chance to impact patient outcomes in a community-focused health system.
Responsibilities- Perform tests across chemistry, hematology, microbiology, blood banking, and urinalysis
- Analyze and validate results to ensure diagnostic accuracy and compliance
- Calibrate, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory instruments
- Review specimens for accuracy prior to testing
- Enter data into the Laboratory Information System (LIS) and maintain records
- Support quality assurance activities including proficiency testing and validation
- Collaborate with physicians and staff to address diagnostic concerns
- Perform venipuncture and specimen processing as needed
- Maintain a clean, safe work environment with infection control practices
- Participate in continuing education and stay updated on lab technology advancements
Key requirements- Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory Science, or related field
- Certification as MT/MLS preferred
- State license as required by the state
- BLS certification preferred
- Experience in hospital or diagnostic lab setting preferred
- Experience with high complexity testing and quality control preferred
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks
- Proficiency with laboratory instrumentation and diagnostic software
- LIS data entry and data management
- Knowledge of CLIA, CAP, OSHA guidelines
