Overview In this role you will oversee accounting and controls for external reinsurance programs, ensuring accurate monthly closes and timely reporting. You work with cross-functional teams, including CFO/FP&A, to address inquiries and support reinsurance activities. You will manage offshore resources and ensure SOX-compliant processes across multiple programs. Responsibilities- Coordinate excess of loss and quota share cessions and related premium adjustments across multiple programs
- Allocate deposit premiums at detailed code block level for excess of loss contracts
- Create and review journal entries monthly
- Calculate premium adjustments
- Coordinate with Reinsurance Collections on settlements and cash application
- Perform reviews in compliance with SOX controls
- Support responses to reinsurer inquiries with research and analysis
- Support CFO and FP&A in answering questions on reinsurance activities
- Monthly processing of assumed reinsurance programs based on SOA and retrocessions
- Review Schedule F Part 3 for recoverable, payable and funds held balances related to reinsurance programs
Key requirements- Bachelor's degree in accounting; CPA preferred
- Minimum 5 years in a controller capacity for a public P&C insurer
- Strong knowledge of reinsurance operations and related processes, controls, and systems
- Strong insurance-technical accounting expertise and balance sheet/income statement interrelationships
- Global business acumen and awareness of macroeconomic factors impacting financial results
- Experience leveraging onshore and offshore resources across a global platform
- Strong interpersonal and cross-functional collaboration skills
- Systems-technical acumen and ability to understand evolving finance architecture and reporting platforms
