Overview

In this role you support a premier general liability defense practice in a hybrid New York setting. You will handle a diverse docket of high-exposure matters, working closely with insurers and clients to drive strategy and litigation outcomes. The position emphasizes deposition practice, motion work, and trial readiness, with mentorship and cross functional collaboration. This is an opportunity to advance trial skills within a top-tier, collegial environment.

Compensation / Benefits
  • Annual base salary $130,000-$165,000

Responsibilities
  • Manage a litigation caseload of roughly 25-30 matters
  • Take and defend depositions; participate in hearings and mediations
  • Draft and argue motions; prepare pleadings and briefs
  • Prepare detailed correspondence and reports to clients and carriers
  • Conduct legal research using Westlaw, Lexis, and other research tools
  • Prepare responses to written discovery; review and organize documents for production
  • Investigate claims, develop case strategy, assess liability and exposure
  • Assist in trial and mediation preparation and participate as needed
  • Collaborate with partners, clients, and cross-functional teams to advance case objectives
Key requirements
  • JD from ABA-accredited law school with excellent academic record
  • Active New York Bar admission in good standing
  • 3-6 years of substantive litigation experience
  • Experience defending premises liability, general liability, catastrophic injury, hospitality, transportation or negligent security matters
  • Background handling New York Labor Law claims strongly preferred
  • Ability to take and defend depositions
  • Superior legal writing, analytical, and research skills
  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work directly with insurer clients and insureds
