Overview In this role you will provide legal guidance on AI governance and IP compliance to support WD's AI-driven data infrastructure. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to assess regulatory impact, advise on IP-related matters, and lead trainings and onboarding/offboarding for risk management. The role combines legal expertise with tech fluency to protect trade secrets and patents while enabling innovative AI initiatives. This is a fast-paced, collaborative position that contributes to WD's ability to scale responsibly in a global environment.

Responsibilities- Analyze AI-related laws and their impact on WD
- Collaborate across functions on AI governance and risk assessments
- Provide strategic IP compliance advice to internal clients
- Assist with IP-related internal investigations
- Develop and deliver IP compliance training for employees
- Participate in IP-related onboarding/offboarding to protect confidential information and trade secrets
Key requirements- Undergraduate/graduate degree in computer science, electrical engineering, materials science, or related field
- J.D. from an accredited law school; top 50 law school preferred
- Bar admission in one state
- 2-3+ years at a top law firm or as in-house attorney in technology with patent/trade secret focus
- Knowledge of trade secret and patent law
- Ability to grasp technical AI/storage/semiconductor concepts
- Strong technical, organizational, and analytical skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication; presentation skills
