Senior Counsel, Energy Transactions

You will be Gridmatic's first internal legal counsel, owning the creation of the commercial legal function. You'll draft, review, and negotiate energy agreements and trading frameworks, while building processes and templates to scale safely. You report to the Chief Commercial Officer and collaborate closely with commercial teams to align legal strategy with company goals. This is a hands-on, autonomous role that shapes contracts and policies from scratch in a fast-growing, startup environment. You'll play a critical role in enabling growth while managing risk and external counsel relationships.

• Draft, review, and negotiate energy agreements including renewable and storage power purchase agreements and tolling agreements
• Manage relationships with outside counsel
• Negotiate trading frameworks such as ISDAs and EEIs
• Structure and negotiate retail electric power customer contracts
• Establish and standardize legal policies, processes, templates, and workflows
• Collaborate with commercial colleagues to align legal strategy with company goals

• Active license to practice law
• 4 to 10 years of legal experience
• Strong energy contracting experience
• Highly autonomous with proactive communication and ability to operate without a playbook
