Overview In this role you will serve as lead internal counsel on tax equity, tax credit transfer, and debt financings for renewable projects, including solar, storage, and wind. You will support project development, close financing rounds, and coordinate with outside counsel while advising senior management. The role sits at AES Renewables & Power, a leader in clean energy development, with a focus on responsible financing and risk mitigation. Responsibilities- Lead internal counsel on tax equity, tax credit transfers, and debt financings for renewable projects
- Structure, draft, review, and negotiate financing documents (PPA, EPC contracts) and related project documents
- Attend to project development and financing issues for solar, solar+storage, storage, and wind projects
- Manage closings with AES team members and outside counsel
- Effectively engage and manage outside counsel
- Provide strategic legal guidance to senior and executive management
Key requirements- At least 10 years of relevant experience, preferably in a major law firm or sophisticated in-house setting
- At least 6 years of project finance experience in renewables, with ability to lead transactions
- Experience in project development and project-related documentation
