Overview You will lead the development and evolution of accounting policies to align with U.S. GAAP and Statutory Accounting Principles. In this role, you'll work with cross functional finance teams to translate complex guidance into practical policy and training. You will drive the implementation of new standards and monitor regulatory developments to keep the organization compliant. This position offers impact across policy, research, and knowledge management, leveraging emerging tech to enhance policy workflows.
Responsibilities- Develop and maintain accounting policies and procedures for U.S. GAAP and Statutory Accounting Principles
- Research new and evolving accounting guidance and assess impact
- Lead implementation of new accounting standards and communicate changes to stakeholders
- Prepare policy memoranda documenting conclusions and analysis on complex transactions
- Partner with finance and other stakeholders to evaluate accounting implications of significant transactions
- Maintain technical accounting documentation, policies, procedures, and templates
- Monitor regulatory developments (FASB, NAIC)
- Identify opportunities to improve policy processes, documentation, research, and workflow through technology and automation
- Support AI-enabled tools development for technical accounting research and knowledge management
- Provide technical accounting guidance and training to finance professionals
- Support development of policy resources and best practices across finance
Key requirements- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline
- CPA required
- 8+ years of progressive experience in insurance, investments, public accounting, or related financial services
- Public accounting experience required; Big 4 preferred
- Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and Statutory Accounting Principles
- Strong technical accounting research, analysis, and documentation skills
- Ability to interpret and implement new accounting standards
- Strong communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills with cross-functional collaboration and multi-priority management
